A New Tradition at Kits Beach
New to KitsFest. Not new to the sand.
This summer, Ultimate made its first appearance at KitsFest, and we were proud to be there for it.
On Friday, August 7th, Beach Ultimate joined that stage for the first time: a fast-paced 4v4 mixed-gender showcase at the north end of Kits Beach. Some of the province's best Ultimate players took the sand in BE Athletics' APX fabric, giving fans a taste of what makes this sport awesome: speed, creativity, full-extension athleticism.
It was quick. It was exciting. And it was an important step forward.

Events like KitsFest give us that opportunity to show up and connect with the community.
They give someone walking down Kits Beach a reason to stop (five minutes, or an hour) and watch a massive layout, a no-look throw, an athlete exploding through the sand. Maybe they've never seen Ultimate before. Maybe this is where it starts.
That matters.
“On behalf of the tournament organizing committee, I'm so proud of what we were able to accomplish this year at KitsFest. Seeing the sun set, with spectators watching an incredible game of 4v4 beach ultimate warmed my heart,” Underhill said. “That evening also sparked in us an enthusiasm for what's to come. We are already excited for the KitsFest Beach Ultimate tournament in 2027.”
Thank you to Kevin Underhill and Jay Boychuk for pushing this idea forward and finding Ultimate a place inside one of Vancouver's longest-running community events. Firsts only happen because someone believes something belongs before anyone else can see it.
We learned a lot from year one. We've already got a list for year two.
BE Athletics will keep showing up wherever this sport gets in front of new eyes. The athleticism speaks for itself. So does the community behind it.
We're proud of where Ultimate is. We're even more excited about where it can go.
