One of the coolest parts of an ultimate team is getting to design the uniforms, a fun and creative process that has, unfortunately, become a slight burden on many who manage it. Finding inspiration, colors, fonts, and logos that everyone agrees on without stepping on any toes is tough! We’ve taken those tough parts and ironed them out, to help your team get a design that everyone loves. For those who don’t know where to start, there’s a Design Realization Document, where there’s lots of space to write, draw and link your ideas. If you already have a vision, there’s templates for each type of gear - so your Sun Hoodies can look as slick as your Enduro socks. We have insightful, detail-oriented designers that will work very closely with the team, asking for input at each step of the process, using physical samples and color charts to ensure you know exactly what you’re going to be receiving.

At BE Ultimate we offer free in-house design services with minimal regulations but also have the choice of working with Ian Bone of Goodbones Creative with no restrictions.

Here’s a couple of tips when scheduling a design session with Ian.

COME PREPARED

Coming prepared is the best way to make sure you get your order on time and that your designs look great. Communicating abstract information about designs is tough, especially if it’s your first time designing anything. To help the process, start out by looking for the types of images, words, fonts and colors you want featured in your design. You can create a Mood Board like the ones below to give our designer the best ideas of where to take the sessions. Try using our design templates - they’re made for someone new to designing, and updated regularly to accurately reflect sizing and color.

KEEP IT SIMPLE

According to Ian, the best designs are the simple ones. He excels in drawing out small accents to add complexity to a more minimalistic design. Take a look at the Grand Trunk Sun Hoodie design, which features an intricate and colorful focal point, without any extra crowding in the negative space.  Keep an open mind about what the designer suggests, advises Ian, since they have more experience with what the final product will look like. His extensive knowledge of fonts will come in handy!

PLAN AHEAD

Good designs take time to create. Part of what makes working with BE Ultimate different is the personalized, detail-oriented approach we take - which takes time! Plan to have a month of working with the designer to perfect your vision. Don’t have a clear picture of what you want? Our designer can create over a dozen different styles to bring your ideas to life. BE Designers will have at least 2-3 meetings with you, giving you mockups and 3D screen models to ensure that you’re absolutely satisfied. The largest complaints with uniforms tends to be about color, but we’ve created the BE Color Chart - a large swath of fabric with various colors printed directly on it, to give you an idea of what the on-screen design looks like once you’re holding it in your hands.
